XGRIDS: Uploading Data to Trendspek

Learn how to prepare and upload XGRIDS capture data to Trendspek for processing into a 3D Gaussian Splat.

Written by Josh Sinclair

Trendspek supports processing raw XGRIDS capture data, including individual scans, multiple scans, and combined aerial and ground datasets.

1. Prepare your XGRIDS data

Before uploading, ensure you have all the raw data from your XGRIDS capture.

Place all files and folders associated with the capture into a single folder, preserving the original file structure.

Compress this folder into a ZIP file.

⚠️ Important: Upload the complete raw dataset, rather than individual files or processed exports. Do not modify the internal folder structure.

2. Select the appropriate upload type

Trendspek supports three XGRIDS upload types. The correct option depends on how your data was captured.

XGRIDS Single Map

Select XGRIDS Single Map if:

  • Your dataset was captured as a single continuous scan.

  • No supplementary aerial/drone imagery was collected.

XGRIDS Map Fusion

Select XGRIDS Map Fusion if:

  • Your dataset consists of multiple separate scans.

  • The scans have shared control points to support alignment.

  • No supplementary aerial/drone imagery was collected.

XGRIDS Aerial Ground Fusion

Select XGRIDS Aerial Ground Fusion if:

  • Your dataset includes XGRIDS ground scan data.

  • Supplementary drone imagery was captured for integration with the ground data.

💡 Not sure which upload type to select? Contact Trendspek Support before uploading, and our team can help identify the appropriate option.

3. Upload your data to Trendspek

  1. Navigate to the Trendspek Upload Dashboard.

  2. Click New to create a new upload.

  3. Choose whether to create a new asset or upload to an existing asset.

  4. Enter an appropriate Asset Name and Capture Date.

  5. Under Upload Type, select the appropriate XGRIDS option:

    • XGRIDS Single Map

    • XGRIDS Map Fusion

    • XGRIDS Aerial Ground Fusion

  6. Select the ZIP file containing your complete raw dataset.

  7. Enable Automatic Submission if you want the dataset submitted for processing as soon as the upload completes.

  8. Click Start Upload.

Your data will now begin uploading to Trendspek.

⚠️ Can’t see the XGRIDS upload options? These upload types may need to be enabled for your account. Please contact Trendspek Support for assistance.

4. Submit your data for processing

If you enabled Automatic Submission, your dataset will be submitted for processing once the upload completes successfully.

If Automatic Submission was disabled, you can manually submit your dataset from the upload dashboard once all files have been uploaded.

The Trendspek team will process your XGRIDS data and perform quality control before making the resulting model available in your account.
